About the Club

My name is Shawn Kenney.  I have lived in Utah and enjoyed the Utah outdoors and numberous forms of outdoor recreation all of my life.  I am the father of seven children. My wife and I have been home schooling our growing family over the past 10 years. Our eldest child is almost 15 years old. I have spent the last 20+ years Rock and Ice climbing, skiing/ Snowboarding, hiking, backpacking, snow shoeing, camping, biking, skateboarding, white water rafting, paragliding and so much more. I really want my kids to know, enjoy and love the outdoors the way I do. I decided to put together an outdoor club that will meet once a month for a day long activity as well as a quarterly overnight trip.  We also go out and ski, bike and hike together several times a month.

Appreciation of the outdoors also naturally lends itself to the study of nature through photography, art, science, exploration, etc.  The club provides a great outlet and impetus to get out of the house and experience new and exciting locations and activities all around Utah.  Joining with friends and family in nature creates lasting friendships, provides much needed relaxation and reprieve from demanding schedules, ringing phones and the daily stresses of life, stirs creativity, and instills an appreciation of beauty and a sense of gratitude not experienced in any other way.

The purpose of the club is to:
            *Expose families to the joy of the outdoors through activities and adventures lead by an experienced outdoorsman
            *Share knowledge of locations, activities, techniques, and gear
            *Meet individuals and families who also love the outdoors and a great adventure!
